Collection 2000 Supersize Fat Lash Mascara

Collection 2000 aren't a brand that I usually find myself drawn towards. I'm not sure if it reminds me of being young and buying the "cheapest" makeup I could with my pocket money, or just because I prefer other brands nowadays?
Anyhow I think this snuck (is that even a word?) its way into my life in my Christmas stocking from my mummy. Yes I'm nearly 26 years old, no I haven't lived with my parents for a while & yes my mum does still make me a stocking full of treats every Christmas! *she's the best!* - in fact the boy gets his own stocking now as well. haha.
Gotta love my mumma!

One thing I do like about this mascara is the packaging. It's bright bright pink/purple so easy to spot in my ever growing handbag of random junk. The simple black writing on a bright background is definitely a look that I appreciated. Slightly similar to the Maybelline mascara range which hosts some of my all time favourites!

Unfortunately that is the only positive I have about this mascara. The formula of the product itself was very thick and gloopy which is never a good trait for a mascara to have and it also suffered from my other pet hate...the neck of the tube squeezes every single last drop of product off your brush before you can pull it out - not leaving nearly enough product for thick layered application that I like.

The brush quality isn't the best either. It's just a pretty standard, too flimsy, not enough volume, drug store brush that cannot hold enough product. As you can see pretty well in the piccy below.
So as much as it pains me to say this, Supersize Fat Lash Mascara is a big fat flop and is being sitting on the side wastefully as we speak.
I'm currently using it as my "can't find any other mascara" mascara when any mascara would be better than no mascara but other than that I'm sticking with my trusty MUA Lash Boom mascara that you can read about here and I also purchased Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes mascara that I am looking forward to trialling and reviewing soon
Collection 2000 Supersize Fat Lash mascara can be found in all good drugstores and retails at £2.99
Have you tried any Collection 2000 mascaras?
Have I been unlucky with this one?

Following on from last week's update I'm still following the Opto Fitness 30 day plan (which you can read more about here).......ish!
I'm ashamed of myself just saying it but I actually find it IMPOSSIBLE to 100% stick to any healthy eating plan or diet that is too restricting!!! Simple as that!
I wish I had more determination and I wish I had more will power but I just don't and this is something that reeeeaally frustrates me!

I've been sticking to the Opto Fitness menus about 80% but at the weekend we definitely ate some normal naughty dinners and I can't say I felt particularly bad about it.
I think I've come to the conclusion that a little bit of what you like doesn't hurt! And that it definitely keeps me more motivated knowing I can eat that Ben & Jerry's ice-cream at the weekend.
Going forward sticking to very strict healthy eating during the week and relaxing at the weekend is the way I am going to carry on...but as I only have 20 days until I go on holiday now I am going to try and get back on plan strictly until I go.

This week I managed to lose a little weight just doing the plan half heartedly so I'd love to see what I'm capable of if I'm strict with this space

Weight Loss this week = 3.5lbs
Total weight loss = 11lbs

P.S I'm thinking of trying Protein World's Slender Blend when I get back from holiday, has anybody tried this? What did you think? Would love to hear from you?

Mint Cosmetics Teeth Whitening Economy Kit

I've been wanting to whiten my teeth for a while now but it's one of those things that I just never seemed to get round to sorting out. With my new job looming and wearing red lipstick daily being imminent I decided now was the time to do something about it.
Don't get me wrong my teeth aren't horrendous but they are discoloured and I often avoid toothy smiles because of it. I'd really love to feel more confident wearing red lipsticks (a rarity despite my love for them) but most shades definitely just seem to enhance and tooth discolouration so I definitely wouldn't feel confident at work with the way my teeth are at the moment.
I did some research and quickly decided I would prefer at home whitening as opposed to in a dental surgery and came across Mint Cosmetics who seemed to be reputable, had great reviews and weren't too pricey.

I ordered the Economy Kit, now known as the Half Kit, so not surprisingly it contains half of the whitening gel that the full kit would do. Still plenty for 10-12 days application which I thought would be perfect for a beginner like me to trial the product and to see how I get on with teeth whitening in general.

Included in the economy kit is:

- an instruction booklet and DVD
- three mouth trays complete with case
- 1 bottle of pre whitening solution (+ applicator sponge)
- 2 syringes of whitening gel
- a tooth colour guide

The great thing that makes the Mint Cosmetics set stand out for me is that you receive three completely fresh mouldable teeth trays. Normally home whitening kits just have bog standard, one size fits all, trays so inevitably you're teeth aren't being exposed to the maximum product possible as the trays will be pretty loose fitting. Mint Cosmetics have already thought of this for you and give detailled instructions on how to use boiling water to mould your trays to fit your teeth perfectly.

So far I've used two applications of whitening and haven't noticed much of a difference but this does take a while and I intend to persevere and make sure I whiten daily as recommended.

Can't wait to update you all on my progress soon
Have you ever used teeth whitening products?
I'd love to hear how you got on?

Superdrug Haul

As per usual...the story of my life in fact...I popped to Superdrug yesterday lunchtime for one thing and came back £24 lighter. Here are the goodies I picked up:
The red lip and nail products are for my new job, me being super prepared and buying early. Mac Ruby Woo is definitely still my go to red lippy but I find it's always good to have a couple of cheap spare options that I can just chuck in my pocket & not worry about them falling out & getting lost. Ruby Woo is more of a classic Marilyn Monroe red whereas this MUA shade has a sligh orange tone to it so it'll be nice to try out a different shade of red.
Thailand is just over 3 weeks away now *WOOOOOO* so my latest addition to the Baby Lips collection is with that in mind. The formula of Repair includes an SPF 20 which I will really need in those high temperatures, no doubt the boy will probably be pinching it as well.
Have you tried any of these products?
If you have any holy grail red lipstick or nail polish recommendations
I'd love to hear about them? Mine will be getting a lot of use!
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend

Raising awareness for cancer #nomakeupselfie

I'm not sure about you but this week nearly everybody I know on facebook has been getting involved in the #nomakeupselfie trend to help raise awareness for Cancer.
To be honest initially I was a little sceptical, not at the thought of appearing without my makeup (there must be hundreds of pictures like that already! cringeeee!), but just because I didn't really understand how one little picture of me looking like a baby boy could really help raise awareness for Cancer? I had a little look into it.
Last year beauty retailer Escensual launch the #daretobare campaign. They encouraged women to post pictures of themselves with no makeup on Twitter making a strong and brave public statement. They then donated £1 for the first 1000 #daretobare pictures that appear on Twitter.
So in that instance a lot of money AND awareness was raised for cancer charities.
In the end I decided I was happy to get involved in the trend providing that I donated directly to the charity personally as well and encouraged my nominees to do the same. The majority of girls I know definitely seem to be doing the same so the tag is proving pretty successful.
Yesterday it was announced that what started off as a small vanity project has in fact prompted over 800,000 text donations to Cancer Research UK alone raising more than £1 million so far!!!
Pretty incredible for a little trend that only takes 30 seconds to take part in really....
I nominate you all to take part, take a no makeup selfie and Text BEAT to 70007
Come and take a look at my #nomakeupselfie (can't believe I'm encouraging this!! loool) over on Instagram @SPARKLEBUGBLOG
Will you be getting involved?

Hi dolls
For this weeks #BloggersWLW I am going to talk about the current plan I am following:
The Opto 30 day weight loss plan has been created by a lovely personal training called Ollie Oxley who is based in Kent. The plan is a "co-ordinated weightloss and toning plan. A complete diet, exercise and motivational programme to help burn fat, tone muscle and help you reach your weightloss goals"
It includes:
- a full exercise programme specifically designed to burn fat and build strength
- a balanced and healthy meal plan
- shopping lists
- recipes
- exercise guides
- online support from Ollie himself and other people on the plan
As you've heard me mention probably every week up until now, my holiday to Thailand is now less than a month away *eeeeek try to control excitement* so when I came across Ollie's plan I thought it would be a perfect way to achieve the maximum weightloss possible in a final burst before I go.
Now it is early days...I'm on Day 3 of 30 so still a long way to go but so far so good. I'm not a big fan of meat in general to be honest, I could happily be vegetarian minus the odd greasy burger, so I do tend to struggle with healthy eating plans because inevitably they do include a lot of protein...but touch wood I am getting on fine so far. I think the usual problem is that it is suggested that you mix up what protein you have each day during the week so you don't get bored but that actual ends up far worse for me as I usually don't like what I'm being told to eat. On Ollie's plan I am happily sticking to the few protein options that I enjoy.
The workouts are fab! I'm honestly still aching from my Day 1 legs workout now. But you no what they say, no pain no gain and all that.
As I said it is early days so I don't have a huge amount to report other than I am really impressed with the plan so far.
I will keep you all updated on my progress as I go along but in the meantime you can find out more about OPTO Fitness here. There are a variety of plans to take part in starting at just £49 for 30 days which really works out at the bargain price of £1.60 a day all for your own personal trainer and nutritionist!
If you get in quick I believe Ollie still has some free places on the 30 Day plan programme, no catch you just have to be willing to participate in the group forums and share your before and after pictures
Total Weight Loss since starting #BloggersWLW: 8.25lbs
I've just got round to creating an Instagram account just for the blog so come by & say hello

Models Own 5pc brush set

A few weeks ago you may remember me mentioning here that I took full advantage of the Models Own 50% off sale to celebrate them reaching 250,000 followers on Facebook.
Another one of the items I picked up was the Models Own 5pc Brush Kit
Image: Models Own
In the set (from L-R) you get the following brushes: Powder brush, Shading brush, Blending brush, Angled brush & Lip brush

Being drugstore brushes I wasn't expecting miracles but I was pleasantly surprised by these brushes.
I only tend to go with detailled or heavy eye makeup on nights out so I've only trialled the shading & blending brush once but both did a great job. Both are just the right size to achieve their look and the blending brush in particular was perfect for the crease of my eye.
The powder brush and angled brush have become daily staples in my makeup bag. The angled brush is super soft but yet still manages to be firm enough to apply really really accurate eyeliner. I always find my angled brushes are one or the other, too firm so that hurt or too soft so they don't provide good application.
I'm yet to try the lip brush but have high hopes after using the other four.

All brushes are super super soft and wash really well. I've given them 2 washes now and am thrilled that they definitely return to their original softness and barely shed any hairs at all - winner!

The Models Own 5 piece brush kit usually retails at £10 and can be found online here (where you can also find some of the brushes individually if a particular one takes your fancy?) or at the Models Own Bottle Shop or larger Boots & Superdrug stores

What makeup brushes do you recommend?
I'd love to hear from you

Hi dolls,
Time for my weekly #BloggersWLW update again...these really do seem to come around so quickly!
So Ive had a little dilemma this week, firstly I have discovered that my scales seem to tell me I weigh something entirely different depending on where in the house I weigh myself. Bathroom (hard floor but a little uneven) im doing well, downstairs (carpet but flat) not good at all! Then after that depressing discovery my scales seem to have given up on me entirely (I assume maybe the battery has died) so now I have no idea at all how well I'm doing!! :s

Up until last weeks weigh in I was thrilled to have lost 12lbs since starting my #BloggersWLW journey back in January, but now I'm wondering whether that's actually the case at all! *ooopsie*
So basically I need to get some new digital scales pretty sharpish...

This week I have really upped my game & made sure I worked out at least 3 times. My friend Debbie has been kicking my arse and motivating me in our gym at lunchtimes and its been really nice having somebody to go along with. Plus I'm finding myself trying new strength exercises that I wouldn't have though of because Debs suggests them so thats good.

Today I discovered that Groupon have a deal on at the moment for £14.50 you get 3 months online membership to Weight Watchers so I've joined up again. If you've ever tried Weight Watchers you will know that this is a total bargain, usually you pay £11.90 per month for online access so I think this is a really good deal.
Last week I found out I've been lucky enough to be offered the absolutely job of my dreams! Full time permanent Cabin Crew!!! I'm absolutely over the moon and so so excited. I'm not sure when I'll be starting because I'm still waiting for a start date to begin my training but I'm determined to be a size 10-12 when I go for that uniform fitting!! (Probably a 14 16-18 at the moment if im honest). That along with my holiday to Thailand only 5 weeks away now is definitely all the motivation I need at the moment

Also with Lent starting today my friend Lisa and I are giving up chocolate - which while Im working in an office is much harder than you would imagine. I'm also going to try and cut out bread until my holiday now (which is just a few days before the end of Lent but I cant promise I won't be eating something naughty on that long long plane ride)

How have you all been getting on?
Do any of you have any Weight Watchers tips?
I'd love to hear from you, follow me on GFC, Bloglovin or Twitter

Happy Pancake Day!

Now I don't know about you but I love pancake day!! Any excuse to skip dinner and stuff my face full of all things sweet & chocolatey (Chocolate sauce & squirty cream is my personal favourite FYI) is fine by me.
Here is a cheeky chocolate pancake recipe that I found over at Cooking Classy which I will definitely be giving a try this evening. I have a major sweet tooth and am a particular chocoholic so surely chocolate pancakes have got to be even more enjoyable than regular pancakes right? Jaclyn's recipe's are to die for so definitely pop over & check them out if you get a chance - plenty of pancake inspiration!
Chocolate Pancakes with Chocolate Sauce, Strawberries & Bananas
Prep Time: 20 mins          Cook Time: 2 mins          Yield: 12 pancakes

1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup light brown sugar
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp of salt
1/2 cup of whole milk
1/2 cup low fat buttermilk
2 large eggs
3 1/2 Tbsp of vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
butter for pan (if needed)
fresh strawberry & banana slices
Chocolate sauce
8 oz. chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream
Preheat a frying pan or griddle on high. In a mixing bowl whisk together the granulated sugar and cocoa until well combined. Stir in light brown sugar followed by flour, baking soda and salt. Make a well in the centre of dry mixture and set aside. In a separate bowl mixing bowl whisk together milk, buttermilk, eggs, vegetable oil and vanilla. Pour wet mixture into dry mixture and whisk to blend (don't overmix batter should still have some lumps). Butter pan if necessary, pour batter into pre heated pan 1/4 cup at a time and slightly spread batter in a circular form outward (so the centres aren't much thicker than the edges) and allow to cook until bubbles begin to appear on the surface, about 1 minute. Then carefully flip pancake to opposite side and cook until done.
Serve warm, topped with chocolate sauce, strawberries and bananas.
For the chocolate sauce: Place chocolate chips in a medium heat proof bowl. Bring heavy cream just to a gentle boil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Pour hot cream over chocolate chips and stir until chocolate has melted. Note that chocolate sauce will thicken as it cools, also if you want a thinner consistency you can add a few more tsp of hot cream. Reheat as needed in a bowl over a simmering pan

Happy Pancake Day everybody!

Style Crush - Oscars fashion

Unlesss you've been living under a rock you will know that last night The Oscars were held in Los Angeles. To cut a long story short we have some ongoing building works at our house at the moment and the scaffolding is affecting our sky dish sooo i couldn't watch the red carpet on E! last night! - actually devastated about it!!
So first thing this morning I was on instagram and twitter to suss out all the gorgeous celebrities all suited and booted in their amazing dresses.
Here are my favourites from this year:

L-R: Kristin Cavallari (pregnant & still looking in-cred-ible), Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson, Julia Roberts

L-R: Kate Hudson, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, Charlize Theron
Not forgetting a few of  my favourite boys - L-R: Chaning & Jenna (SUCH a gorgeous couple), Bradley Cooper, Zac Efron

I think this dress is my favourite of the night! Lupita Nyong'o (star of 12 Years a Slave) looked absolutely stunning. The pastel blue is so on trend this year and looks flawless against her skin tone. Beaut!
& I know it may not be traditional Oscars red carpet wear but I think the Kardashian sisters looked incredible in their after-party attire. Khloe in particular - her velvet dress is to die for! A lot of the press this morning is saying that Kim got it wrong again showing too much of her chest but I think she looks absolutely stunning. Her look is really simple but very effective with matching lips. Obviously you can't help but be drawn to her chest but hey.. if you've got it flaunt it! And she looks phenomenal after having baby North!
Did you watch The Oscars red carpet last night?
Who's look is your favourite?

Yankee Medium Candle in Sweetest Valentine

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a gorgeous special edition Yankee Candle - Sweetest Valentine.
With a name relating to Valentines day I'm assuming this limited edition won't hang around for long. Luckily I'm subscribed to the Yankee Candle newsletter so hear about any new scents ahead of them going on sale

Sweetest Valentine is described as a swirl candle which I've never seen before in the Yankee range. This literally means it is made up of two lovely Yankee scents and then swirled together to create one candle. It uses two of my all time favourite fragrances Sparkling Cinnamon & Vanilla Cupcake. On their own I absolutely adore both of these scents but combined together they are so so amazing!!
Not only that but the swirl pattern running through the candle looks really pretty & I love the little heart detail on the label at the front.

All in all Sweetest Valentine has been a huge hit in our house although I so find Yankee candles don't ever burn for quite as long as they are supposed to.
This particular candle only comes in a medium size jar which retails at £16.99 and is supposed to burn for somewhere between 65-90 hours. We tend to burn ours for maybe 4-5hours each evening & is say it lasts a week, 2 at most like that.

Now I am dying to try Yankee's limited edition Easter candles - White Chocolate Bunnies anybody? *yum*

Have you got any Yankee Candles?
I'd love to hear from you

100 Posts!

WOW! So I just realised while scheduling my last post for Sunday that I was on my 99th post...making this my ONE HUNDREDTH post!

Image: Google
I can't believe how my little blog has grown and changed since I started it last May.
I honestly never expected anybody to follow me or be remotely interested in what I have to say so thank you thank you for sticking with me and coming along for the ride!
I really am enjoying my blogging so much at the moment and think I'm coming more and more into my own and writing about subjects and things I love which hopefully shows in my posts.

I'd love to hear feedback from any readers?
Are there any posts you would like to see more/less of?
