Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara Black

About a month ago i picked this little beaut up in Superdrug before a weekend away, my boyfriend was treating me to some makeup for my birthday and this caught my attention at the till, on offer for £5.99 (obviously had to be tried!)

As far as im aware this is the first Gel mousse mascara on the market and to be honest i was sceptical.
Maybelline claim Our new formula with 40% less hard waxes* and flexor brush create massive lush volume. Soft to the touch. Plush it Up!
*Vs.our Classic Volum' Expresss Mascara.

The packaging is very similar to all the other Maybelline mascaras, bright and eye catching.

Suprisingly i have to say i absolutely love this mascara. I wouldn't say the actual mascara gel looks any different than a regular liquid mascara would and
it applies just the same,  maybe it helps the brush glide through my lashes a little easier?

What i have really noticed with the gel formula is that your eyelashes don't dry hard or brittle. You know how when you're wearing regular liquid mascara if you accidentally rubbed your eyes your mascara would flake off and lashes would fall out. This really doesn't seem to happen with a gel formula. My eyelashes feel much more bendy and have more elasticity to them, this mascara can't be picked off in clumps like regular mascara could.

The brush provided is a pretty standard Maybelline mascara brush, very similar to their Colossal mascara which im a big fan of. The wand is more bendy than usual which gives great flexibility and enables you to get right in there and coat each lash individually as you please.

I have definitely noticed more volume in my lashes when using this mascara and haven't found it to clump or dry up (two of my pet hates with mascara). I'm a big fan of huge fake lashes so the bigger the better as far as I'm concerned and this mascara does that fantastically.

Before (please excuse the messy brows ;))
Maybelline Mega Plus Mascara Black retails at £7.99 and you can find it at any Maybelline counter or online.

Have you tried this mascara or any other Maybelline mascaras? What is your favourite mascara?

Wireless Festival 2013

Soo a couple of weeks ago i went to my first festival - Wireless

This year it was at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (as opposed to being in Hyde Park like previous years) and definitely one of the best days ever!!!
I went on the friday when Justin Timberlake was headlining and he was absolutely amazing. He's always been one of my favourites but he exceeded all my expectations, he was incredible live, the best performer i've ever seen (& i've seen quite a few) and totally gorgeous obviously

#WIWTW as its become on twitter or What I Wore to Wireless to everyone else

The Sophie Neon Lip Print Sleeveless Vest Top and Ruby Bleach Wash Turn Up Denim Shorts are both from boohoo.com and the shorts are now in the sale for £8 & can still bought here. I'd had my eye on the vest top for a little while and managed to get it from the boohoo outlet store on eBay back in May.

The Nike hi tops are simply my favourite ever footwear. The picture really doesn't do them justice, the fabric they are made of is sparkly so they shimmer & glitter in the sun and look beautiful. I bought mine from very.co.uk for around £95 which i know is a lot of money for trainers but i really get so much use out of them and they are perfect dressed up or down. They have a small wedge heel, so if im honest my feet did ache wearing them all day at Wireless but this was down to me underestimating how big the park was and exactly how much walking was involved, and i was on my feet all day. I've happily worn them all day before and not had any problems at all

Have you got any festivals planned for the Summer?

Soap & Glory Hand Food & Heel Genius

I don't know about you but i love Soap & Glory products. I have always used their body & bath products and was very excited when they later brought out the make-up line. Every year around Xmas time Boots do an offer where they sell the giant Soap & Glory hamper that usually RRP £60+ for around £20 for one special weekend only so i always make sure to stock up.

The two products that have been staples in my bathroom for the last couple of years are Hand Food Hydrating Hand Cream and Heel Genius Foot Cream

Hand food contains shea butter (which is an ingredient i am always a fan of, i love anything coco or shea buttery), macadamia oil and marshmellow. While you can definitely feel the benefits and notice the smell of shea butter and macadamia oil i'm not sure on the marshmellow?
The cream has a lovely white creamy texture and definitely leaves my hands noticeably softer for a good 3-4 hours after use. Soap & Glory recommend you use the hand cream as often as you want to soften which i think is great advice. You can never use too much of this handcream it really is lovely and over time I have noticed my hands generally much softer than when i don't use it.
Hand food has a clean fresh smell to it, very similar if not the same as the scent of Soap & Glory's Clean On Me shower gel so if you are a fan of that you will love Hand food. It also doesn't leave any sticky residue on your hands and soaks into the skin pretty quickly which is a big bonus in my book.

Yesterday while i was reading Reveal magazine on my train journey home i noticed Heel Genius had won Foot Cream of the year which I can completely understand. This foot cream really does work miracles in my opinion.
Heel Genius contains allantoin, glycerin, macadamia oil, menthol, bilberry, orange and lemon fruit acid smoothers so again you get the softness of a nut based oil but this cream has a slightly more citrus scent, which again is perfectly pleasant and fresh smelling.
Heel Genius is also described as a foot mask and you are instructed to massage a generous layer onto clean feet every night [or at least as often as you remember]. Slip cotton socks overtop and let it soak in while you sleep. Now i can't say i remember to use this everynight but i do try at least a couple of times a week and the effect on my feet is just amazing. Reviews of this product claim you notice a considerable difference in rough patches after just 2 uses and I completely agree, even after using Heel Genius just once my feet feel lovely soft and thoroughly refreshed.

Both products are available from Boots instore or online here and usually retail at £5.50 for a large 125ml tube. At the moment they are on 3 for 2 within Boots bathing product promotion so stock up while they are even cheaper

Have you tried either of these products? What are your Soap & Glory must haves?

I've been desperate to try lash extensions for ages but it's quite expensive so i've been umming and aahing so i was really excited to find this deal. Natural look individual lash extensions with DVA Beautique normally cost £55 but i managed to get them for £19! Bargain price right?

I haven't been able to get an evening appointment until 6th August but there will definitely be a full post to follow, watch this space

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge - the name on everyone's lips

Okay so technically not so much of a beauty blog but lets be honest gorgeous Prince George is all anybody is talking about this week!

image: PA
i seem to have got rather involved & everyone in my office was eagerly listening for news that the future King had arrived. that still seems weird to say...i have witnessed our future King be born. its all very exciting. Prince George really is so so sweet, i think his mum & dad have picked the perfect name for him and his little hands poking out of the blanket giving a royal wave was the cutest thing i've ever seen *welling up here, again*

I think Kate & Wills seem like such a lovely couple, they genuinely seem really happy together and i think they'll be pretty down to earth parents and be very hands on. apparently they've already said they won't be employing a nanny.

Kate just looked amazing when they came out to present Prince George to the world let alone for somebody who only gave birth the day before! i hope i look that good for the photos when i've had a baby. Her hair & makeup were understated but perfect and she wore a gorgeous bespoke cornflower blue crepe de chine dress by British designer Jenny Packham, simple but effortlessly chic. The dress pretty much sold out instantly (as you can imagine) but it can be found here and is thought to have cost anywhere between £2,000-3,000.

It was so refreshing to see Kate still obviously sporting her post-birth baby bump, and proud of it! All we ever get to see in the media is all these celebs who magically lose their baby weight instantly, when obviously it's not like that for everybody and something lots of people have to work really hard to do.

wearing a pale blue polka dot dress was the perfect tribute to Princess Diana who wore very similar 31yrs ago when her & Charlie introduced Prince William to the world
I'm such a fan of our Royal Family, did you all watch the Royal baby coverage like me?
